The Utah Division of Parks and Recreation said the crash is still under investigation, but it appears the vehicle was traveling slowly up a hill when the driver attempted to turn. The UTV then rolled and landed on top of him. McQuivey was flown to St. George Regional Hospital by a medical helicopter in critical condition. He died from his injuries on Sunday. ....

Zane McQuivey, of St. George, was injured when the “side-by-side off-highway vehicle” he was driving crashed in the Purple Hills area of Warner Valley, southeast of St. George near the Arizona border, according to the Utah Division of Parks and Recreation. The boy and his 38-year-old passenger are believed to have been traveling slowly up a hill “when the vehicle attempted a turn and rolled,” Lt. Zan McQuivey, a student from Crimson Cliffs Middle School who was described by family members as a kind and happy 14-year-old boy, was critically injured after the side-by-side off-highway vehicle he was operating crashed in the Purple Hills area of Warner Valley, according to a release issued by the Utah Division of Parks and Recreation. A 38-year-old male passenger was also injured in the accident.
