SRINAGAR: Abdul Samad, Jammu and Kashmir cricketer who impressed everyone with his big-hitting ability during Indian Premier League(IPL) 2020 has been retained by SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) franchise.

On Wednesday, SRH announced the list of 22 players they retained ahead of IPL auction for 2021 addition. The list includes J&K cricketer Abdul Samad who recently played brilliant knocks during Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Samad came into headlines when he was sent to bat on number six during Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy as senior international cricketers and commentators criticised the decision. Harsha Bogle an Indian commentator tweeted “ Just seeing some of the scores in the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament and pained to see Abdul Samad batting at no 6 for J&K. SRINAGAR: On the opening day of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy defending champion Karnataka defeated Jammu and Kashmir by 43 runs.

A team led by Parvaiz Rasool won the toss and opted to bowl.
Batting first Karnataka managed to set the total of 150 for five in their allotted twenty overs. Parvaiz Rasool bowled an economical spell by taking two wickets and considering only 18 runs in his four overs. However, Aquib Nabi took two wickets and Abid Mushtaq took one wicket.
Ahmad Banday and Qamran Iqbal were the opener pair for JK. However, both were looking good till the ist wicket fell down in the last ball of fourth over on the score of 25.
