I Love Live 2 prize draw launches for Stagehand charity 22nd February 2021 Last year’s I Love Live prize draw, which raised £546,000 for music and road crew charity Stagehand, is followed today with I Love Live 2, a new prize draw offering unique gifts from some of the world’s biggest artists, festivals and venues. I Love Live 2 is offering up prizes from the likes of Foo Fighters, Mumford & Sons, Iron Maiden, Muse, Spice Girls, Keane, The 1975, Imogen Heap, Genesis, Simple Minds, Billy Bragg, Stereophonics, Lindsey Buckingham, Queen, Frank Turner and many more. The I Love Live campaign was launched last year by industry figureheads David Stopps, Ian McAndrew and Tom Schroeder, alongside Andrew Lenthall and Mike Lowe from Stagehand. ....
‘It’s long overdue’: UK’s first ever live music industry body launches 19th February 2021 For the first time, a live music industry body has launched in the UK in a move to help tackle the challenges posed by the ongoing COVID-19 crisis and Brexit. Named LIVE (Live music industry, venue and entertainment) the industry body will serve as a collective voice for the UK’s live music ecosystem, including artists, managers, venues, festivals, promoters, agents, production and ticketing. Its memberships consists of 3,150 companies, over 4,000 artists and 2,000 backstage workers. LIVE has already lobbied and worked with government to secure vital support for the industry through the Culture Recovery Fund, and is now formalising the group to help ensure the recovery of the industry. ....
Not content with raising 1.17m for the nation’s struggling musical roadcrew last year, Aylesbury Friars founder David Stopps has teamed up with music icons and industry leaders to raise even more cash for the deserving cause. Last year’s auction, which featured items by Mark Knopfler and Glastonbury Festival was a roaring success, with participants buying tickets for £5 to be in with a chance of getting their hands on money-can’t-buy memorabilia. And this time, artists including Foo Fighters (pictured), Iron Maiden, Mumford and Sons, Spice Girls, Queen, Genesis and The Levellers are taking part. Foo Fighters are a band boasting two iconic drummers Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins, and a drum head signed by the band is up for grabs. ....
