40 Sticks carried the day at the Kalasha Awards gala with nine wins. This happened on Saturday night as Kalasha Awards celebrated 10 years since the gala was launched.
The drama action film, by top actress Sarah Hassan – and who has won the Best Lead Actress in a Film category in the same awards on numerous occasions – swept the board at the expense of 
Sincerely Daisy, 
Family Meeting and 
Uradi, the other major films that had been tipped to pose a major challenge during the celebrations.
The actress received the trophy for the Best Feature Film for the 95-minute film which picked wins in the Best Sound Design, Best Supporting Actor in a Film, Best Editor, Best Special Effects, Best Original Score, Best Original Screenplay, Best Lighting and Best Production Designer. ....

Joe Mucheru challenges film industry to embrace innovation

ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru has challenged Kenyan filmmakers to take advantage of his ministry s innovation measures to improve the sector. Speaking during the annual Kisima Awards gala ceremony held in Nairobi on Saturday, the CS outlined major steps the ministry was making to jumpstart the sector, including installing new policies to stabilise the industry.
As a ministry, we have a mission to facilitate universal access to ICT infrastructure and services all over the country. We formulate policies and laws that regulate standards and services in the ICT sector, Telecommunications, and the Media industry. My ministry is also charged with the responsibility of developing and administering ICT standards, building capacity of mass media and ICT, and the dissemination of public information, Joe Mucheru said. ....
