reporter: craig, bloomberg officials that i talked to were confident he would make the debate. he needed one more national poll where he hit 10% or higher. as of this morning he has that poll. what they didn t expect is that he would have done quite so well. he has now leap frogged to second place in the national polls according to this new survey out this morning with 19%, ahead of joe biden and the other candidates. and we re hearing from the campaign from kevin sheekey, the campaign manager saying our campaign has seen a groundswell of support and qualifying for the debate is the liest sign that mike s plan and ability to dough feat trump is resonating with more and more americans. it s the first time he ll be under that level of scrutiny from his fellow rivals kbl wh. what kind of debater is michael bloomberg? any ideas based on previous mayoral debhaates what we can expect? we don t really know. it s been many years since he s been in this kind of a setting, since
