not many. to be honest with you. you know, courage is in low supply. i mean, we re running deficits in courage and conviction these days. and it seems to me the reason for that, and that s a really interesting question. the reason for it is to be a kind of odd, toxic brew that i ve said before of greed and selfishness and cowardliness and grievance and hatred. i don t know if people even look at the latest poll data, nicolle, where some independents and some democrats are saying they re willing to vote for some people who may be election deniers, if i understand the question correctly. we re running deficits in courage and conviction. so that line wouldn t be very long, in my view. mary, in the national security establishment, i know there was a sense when trump won that the country could survive four years but not eight. i know that feeling became

Each other. joining us is the aclu s political director and dave hoppy of hoppy strategies. let s start with this. which is better for the united states, whether bannon is on the ups or kushner is on the ups. i ll start with you on this. i think this debate reflects the fact that donald trump is a poor manager. he s responsible for creating this chaos around him. if he wants to try to blame steve bannon for his own problems, that s weakness. that s cowardliness. he s the one tweeting about crazy things that the former president was wiretapping his phones. he s the one making the decisions to repeal the affordable care act, to institute the muslim ban. at the end of the day, if he wants to put that on to somebody else in his administration, that feels like weakness and throwing somebody under the bus for his own failures. dave, which is better for america, which is better for this president, whether it s kushner on top or bannon on top?
And rockefeller came out and he was at least up-front with liberals. he said, i don t think we get it done and i m not going to try. i think there are a lot of offices out there doing something a bit cowardly and saying, yeah, sure, it s easier for us to say we ll sign the letter than it is for us to say we won t but we re not going to do it and we re just going to give you another crushing disappointment. so frankly i prefer senator rockefeller s up-front approach to the in-name-only support you re getting from some offices right now. and cowardliness takes us to ben nelson, who criticized the part of the president s health care plan that calls for a federal panel to monitor rate hikes. and he told the wall street journal, i don t think there s a need for the federal government to step in on this. the state of nevada has already approved a 12.8% rate hike for wellpoint. ten other states are going to get theirs. how can ben nelson get taken seriously? ben nelson gets taken seri
