Royal Navy sailors at Musgrove freeing up NHS staff to care for Covid patients


A GROUP of 20 Royal Navy sailors have been mucking in to help relieve some of the pressure on busy NHS staff at Musgrove Park Hospital due to a surge in demand caused by the pandemic.
The members of 1700 Naval Air Squadron based at RN Air Station Culdrose, in Cornwall, have just returned from overseas deployments.
They have been assisting with routine tasks to free up NHS staff to concentrate on attending to patients health needs.
Warrant Officer Schofield, of 1700 Naval Air Squadron, said: “My team, having just returned back from their respective ships protecting the nation’s interests around the world, were very keen to be part of the Covid Support Force, the UK’s largest peacetime deployment at home. ....

RNAS Culdrose Royal Navy sailors sent to south west hospitals


Royal Navy sailors from Helston have been transferred to hospitals around the south west to help out on on busy wards as they meet a surge in demand from the coronavirus pandemic.
As part of a wider campaign by the military to support the NHS, eight sailors from RNAS Culdrose are helping in Bristol and 20 others are lending a hand at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton.
They are part of 1700 Naval Air Squadron and many have recently returned from serving on ships around the world, including in the Gulf and Caribbean. They include weapon specialists, helicopter engineers, aircraft handlers and even a steward and a chef. ....
