COVENTRY â Friends and family are shrouded in despair and disbelief following Mondayâs fatal crash that took the lives of two local teens.
âHe was my best friend. He wouldnât have wanted any of this to happen,â Coventry resident Samuel Smith, 18, the sole survivor of the accident, told the Journal Inquirer on Tuesday of his friend Jacob Provost.
According to police, at about 4 a.m. Monday officers on patrol came across a single-vehicle crash on Route 44 just east of Silver Street. The vehicle had been driving eastbound, crossed the centerline of the road, and crashed into a tree on the westbound side, police said.
The mother of a teenage girl who died in a double fatal car crash Monday said she was happy for the young back seat passenger who survived and his loved ones.
