Maharashtra has enough doses of vaccines: Health official AFP File Photo Maharashtra has a stock of over 44 lakh doses of Covishield and COVAXIN vaccines, enough to inoculate people eligible for taking the shots in the state, a senior health official said on Tuesday. The vaccination drive in the country was expanded from Monday to include people above 60 years of age and those aged between 45 and 59 who have co-morbidities. Asked whether there will be any shortage of doses in Maharashtra as the vaccination drive is being scaled up, state immunisation officer Dr Dilip Patil told PTI that the Centre is releasing a sufficient number of doses to the state. ....

About 72% of the active cases were concentrated in just 5 states â Kerala 35.74%, Maharashtra 25.16%, UP 4.14%, Karnataka 4% and West Bengal 3.44%. The caseload fell to 1.86% of the total 105.96 lakh infections while 102.46 lakh have recovered, 16,088 in 24 hours, giving the recovery rate of 96.70%. As on Wednesday morning, total 6,74,835 people were vaccinated, 2,20,786 in 24 hours. Daily Covid-19 cases at 7-month low Our Bureau New Delhi The daily new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday touched a new low of 10,064 in India in 24 hours after 7 months that were 10,956 on June 12 last year while the daily deaths were less than 140 after 7 months, to be exact 137, 35 of them in Maharashtra, 17 in Kerala, 10 in West Bengal and 8 in Delhi. The total active caseload also dropped to nearly 2 lakh (2,00,528), which was just 1.90% of the total positive cases. The fall in the number of daily new cases is accompanied by a fast rising number of people getting vaccinated against Covid-19 across all states and UTs.
