Easing of lockdown restrictions on April 12 has allowed hospitality venues to serve customers outdoors. Kirkharle Courtyard’s business development manager, Claire Coker, said although they had a “slow-ish start” when they first opened on Monday April 12, as the week went on, they got busier and enjoyed “fabulous” days. “The sunshine definitely helped,” she said. “We have a beautiful courtyard which just lends itself to eating outside.” They also have an open-sided marquee, to extend the seating available and offer shelter. The courtyard has enjoyed a buzzing atmosphere and customers clearly have a sense of relief, Claire said. “We just hope that this is a step where we don’t have to go backwards,” she added.
