The Pueblo County Commissioners have applied for a grant that will be distributed to four Pueblo agencies fighting homelessness, if received. The grant would provide $4.23 million to be used to generally aid the fight for homeless and transient individuals safety, housing and general well-being. The grant has not yet been awarded, but the funds would be sorely missed by the agencies if not sent to Pueblo County. Award announcements will be made in March. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, median monthly rent in Pueblo from 2015-2019 was about $829 a steep price to pay for many in the area. Pueblo has several organizations set up to help with the transient population that would use the funds distributed through the county government to aid those without permanent housing. ....
