Spike Lee and Terence Blanchard on Thirty Years of Composing Beautiful Music

Spike Lee calls his 30-year collaboration with composer Terence Blanchard “a match made in heaven.”
The two have worked together on 17 films and three television projects including their most recent collaboration, “Da 5 Bloods.” Written and directed by Lee, it stars Delroy Lindo, Jonathan Majors, Norm Lewis, Isiah Witlock Jr., Clarke Peters and Chadwick Boseman.

Hot off winning the Academy Award for adapted screenplay for “BlacKkKlansman,” Lee moved onto “Da 5 Bloods” with Blanchard on board to score.
“I feel like Spike is the type of artist who never stands still and is never satisfied with something he’s done before,” says the composer. “He’s always upping his game.”

The legendary Ann Roth is looking like a frontrunner for the costume design Oscar for her costumes for “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.”
With over 130 film and television credits, Roth is set to make Oscar history beating out the late Christopher Plummer as the oldest nominee, should she land the nomination.

Roth has worked with Meryl Streep, George C. Wolfe, Scott Rudin, Sidney Lumet, Neil Simon, Mike Nichols and Todd Black. The “Top Chef” Quickfire Challenge was about to start filming, and Padma Lakshmi the Bravo show’s longtime host, judge and executive producer was being fussed over by people wearing masks and face shields.
