Mumbai:
A woman charged by the Mumbai Police for posting allegedly offensive tweets had over 20,000 followers on Twitter and could be considered as a social media influencer or even a professional tweeter , the Maharashtra government told the Bombay High Court on Monday.
Earlier, the counsel for the accused Sunaina Holey had told the high court that she was not a public figure who is capable of influencing a large number of people through her tweets.
Senior counsel Manoj Mohite, who appeared for the Maharashtra government, told the high court that the accused was charged for one of her tweets suggesting that the coronavirus pandemic was caused by a particular political party.
