Anti-racism seminar to be held
XENIA Greene County Voices is sponsoring the 2021 Greene County Anti-Racism Seminar to be held online from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, May 22, followed by an in-person rally at the Greene County Courthouse in Xenia at 1 p.m.
Since the killing of George Floyd, more and more citizens across the country are coming to better understand the racism that continues to afflict society, and this groundbreaking event aims to address the disconnect between the ideals of society and the reality all too many citizens have to live every day, according to a release from Greene County Voices. ....

Greene County activists plan one-year memorial event for George Floyd

Several citizens groups that formed in Greene County last year in reaction to the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis are planning an anti-racism seminar and rally to commemorate the one-year anniversary of his murder, which occurred on May 25, 2020.
“We’re standing against racism and social injustice and remembering George Floyd,” said Denise Moore, co-founder of Sugarcreek Cares. “Don’t forget George Floyd because it was wrong, it was so wrong and we need to make a change.”
This demonstration and the continuation of these groups show the lasting impact the events of last summer have had on the racial justice movement, particularly in white communities. ....
