It may be the end of an era, but not the end of a decades-long friendship.
Kerr County Sheriff Rusty Hierholzer and Chief Deputy Clay Barton have known each other since roaming the halls at Tivy High School, eventually ended up working in law enforcement and have been friends for decades, a relationship that both say will not end when they each retire from the Kerr County Sheriffâs Office on Jan. 1.
âIâll miss not seeing him every day, but I can promise you we will still call each other regularly and get together in person as well,â Hierholzer said. âWe will still go fishing and hunting and he can still bring firewood over to me.â
