Johnson County has been designated as a “Second Amendment Preservation County” by action of the county commission during their Tuesday meeting.
Chairman Bill Novotny explained that some county residents, being concerned with the current administration’s proposed attacks on citizen’s gun rights, had approached the commission about passing a Second Amendment Resolution.
After consultation with Johnson County Sheriff Rod Odenbach and County Attorney Tucker Ruby, the county drafted Resolution No. 655, declaring the county in support of the Second Amendment and citizen’s right to bear arms.
Novotny also gave an example of a historic Johnson County citizens’ use of their second amendment rights.
