Beltrami County Commissioners will soon be hiring a new veterans service officer as the current position holder looks to retire in a year. Commissioners also approved a new lease with an education provider that utilizes a county building and discussed a future meeting with the Bemidji City Council.

BEMIDJI The Beltrami County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday began the hiring process for a new Veterans Service Officer to replace Scotty Allison, who plans to retire in a year.
During the meeting, the board was informed about Allison s intentions to reduce his hours as he transitions toward retiring from the position, which is expected no later than spring 2022. Because there s a lengthy credentialing period to certify a new officer, commissioners were recommended to get the process underway now. ....

BEMIDJI The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has established a new easement to protect more than 27 acres of wetlands in Beltrami County.
As part of the process to implement the easement, the agency approached the Beltrami County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday with a certification request. The certification is a requirement based on an agreement between the federal agency and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. ....
