Redondo Beach residents this year will, for the first time, get a double dose of Independence Day fireworks.
The City Council voted this week to host its traditional fireworks show and also gave the OK for a local business association to hold its own pyrotechnic display after an all-day event.
Both of the displays will light up the night sky on July 4.
The city-sponsored blasts are typically launched out of Seaside Lagoon. But this year, Redondo Beach will shoot them off from land at King Harbor.
