Two fireworks shows set for Fourth of July in Redondo Beach

Redondo Beach residents this year will, for the first time, get a double dose of Independence Day fireworks. The City Council voted this week to host its traditional fireworks show and also gave the OK for a local business association to hold its own pyrotechnic display after an all-day event. Both of the displays will light up the night sky on July 4. The city-sponsored blasts are typically launched out of Seaside Lagoon. But this year, Redondo Beach will shoot them off from land at King Harbor. Not using a barge to shoot them from the water will lessen the risk of losing money if the show has to be cancelled because of unforeseen potential coronavirus surges, said Councilmember Todd Loewenstein.
