The plea deal was reached under the deferred sentencing law in which she will appear in court Feb. 6 at which she will agree to pay back all of the funds within 11 months, at which time the charge will be reduced.
A trial date had been scheduled for Tuesday, but Macomb Circuit Judge Diane Druzinski at Monday’s pretrial set a Dec. 18 trial date, at which time Michele Kwiatkowski could enter a plea instead of proceed to a trial.
Macomb prosecutors allege Kwiatkowski, a 28-year employee, stole over $100,000 to purchase personal items on a city American Express credit card from January 2016 to 2020, when she left the city.
