A vehicle Monday afternoon was blocking the fire hydrant on Moffat Boulevard directly across from Phillip’s Automotive. Trucks and vehicles have blocked the fire hydrant off and on for the past six consecutive days and numerous times over the past two years without any response from the city in terms of enforcement or simply painting the curb red to remind people not to park there.

Things are looking up for Manteca but the city still has a long road ahead of it to get finances and funding in order so they can tackle major road projects.
Caltrans has taken Manteca off its “do not fund” list after the city cleared up its audit snafu. Caltrans had placed the city on its “do not fund” list in October when Interim Finance Director Stephanie Beauchaine uncovered accounting irregularities that showed some $67 million had been placed in the wrong accounts over the years. ....

Mayor Cantu‘s pitch for ‘pause’ isn’t legal but notes there is now ‘political will’ to address growth issues
There will be no Manteca moratorium on new tentative subdivision maps.
But that doesn’t mean the objectives that a pause on new plans for even more housing beyond the 6,000 or so living units already approved or in the approval process but not yet built won’t be addressed to some degree.
“It just so happens all of the planets have lined up so it can be done with the existing administration and council,” Cantu said of tackling a number of vexing growth-related problems. “There is political will for it now.” ....
