Council discussing capping food delivery fees, patio support grants, public art plans

Council will debate a program supporting patio renovations at local restaurants and asking the province to limit fees on third-party food delivery apps. Tuesday’s public meeting will also include debates on public art plans and a report on seniors in the Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo area.
Councillor Verna Murphy proposed earlier this month to lobby the Alberta Government for a 15 per cent cap on third-party delivery app fees, such as SkipTheDishes and Uber Eats.

Trial for councillor accused of voyeurism scheduled to begin next March

The trial for Councillor Jeff Peddle, who is facing voyeurism charges, is scheduled to begin on March 28, 2022 in Fort McMurray provincial court.
Peddle, who was first elected to the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo’s council in 2017, is accused of “publishing an intimate image” after allegedly “surreptitiously” recording a woman. The recording was allegedly made “in a place that gave rise to the reasonable expectation of privacy, when that person could reasonably be expected to be nude.”
