The matter was raised at a meeting of the Connemara municipal district, where Councillor Eileen Mannion said local people are “hugely concerned” about the situation. She accepted that a major flood relief scheme for Clifden is currently in development, but pointed out that it will take years to complete. That project is currently at such an early stage that the OPW cannot give even a rough estimation for when it might be brought to fruition. ....
