A contractor has now been appointed for the Enniskillen Workhouse Project. QMAC Construction Ltd, has been awarded a £2.2m contract for the conservation and restoration of Enniskillen Workhouse Entrance Block, a historically significant Grade B2 Listed Building. Funding of £2,343,000 was awarded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund to Fermanagh and Omagh District Council in partnership with South West College, to undertake this major capital project to create a business enterprise and heritage hub at Enniskillen Workhouse. The project will also involve the coordination of a Reminiscence programme to capture the stories and memories of the Workhouse and the delivery of a Heritage Skills programme which is being managed by South West College. ....
Council chair presents book of condolences in memory of Prince Phillip Following the recent death of His Royal Highness, The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council opened an online book of condolence to afford the people of the district the opportunity to convey messages of sympathy to Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal Family. The messages were collated in a book, which the Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Diana Armstrong, presented to the Queen’s representative in Co Fermanagh, Viscount Brookeborough KG, Lord Lieutenant of County Fermanagh who accepted the book on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen. Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, on behalf of the Devenish Island Development Partnership, has launched the Devenish Island Experience Ambassador initiative. The Council is now seeking expressions of interest from individuals, heritage champions, businesses and community organisations who have a close connection and affinity with the island to participate in the year-long programme.
