we have some breaking news on this special counsel investigation into president biden s alleged mishandling of classified documents. sources telling cnn the special counsel is not expected to bring charges. he was appointed in january after classified documents from biden s time as environment were found at his private office and home. paula reed is here with the details. tell us what s happening. reporter: several weeks ago we reported it wasn t looking like any charges would be filed by the special counsel in this case. today, multiple sources telling us they do not expect criminal charges to be filed in this investigation. for right now, the special counsel and his team, they are working to compile a very detailed report about exactly what they did in the course of this probe. we have learned from multiple sources that they have been fastidious, going to witnesses once, twice, going back again and retrodding a lot of ground they have already covered. leaving some witness

good to be with you, i m katy tur. we re watching a couple of stories, incoming an update from the governor of maine on the mass shooting last week. we re going to bring the news out of that. first, there are some major developments out of israel. the idf says it freed a hostage inside gaza. colonel yuri magadesh was e retrieved. she is said to be in good condition. as for the rest of the hostages, prime minister benjamin netanyahu today argued the ground incursion and intense bombardment are helpful. our common assessment of all of the not only cabinet members but the security forces and the military is that the ground action actually creates the possibility, not the certainty, but the possibility of getting our hostages out. because hamas will not do it unless they re under pressure. they simply will not do it. you ll notice netanyahu was speaking in english there. that was a press conference for foreign media, an acknowledgment that israel needs to convince the world t
be convicted. right. those are good things in his column. do you think there would be any downside here for president biden were hunter to be convicted? of course, as the personal toll, of course. do we think there is political im impact? yeah, there are low information voters who are like, they re both in trouble with the law. i would say hunter biden is very different than donald trump and being a crack addict because you have an addiction is very different than a myriad after criminal charges, many cases which you ve been able to punt. then you have the fraud cases. i don t think they re the same at all, but i do think, you know, everything can be a problem, especially in politics. certainly, those close to president biden worry about just how he will receive this news. we know he is deeply worried about his son. also, the first lady coming back from france to go to the trial. i mean, the sister has been there. everyone in biden world, they re a close family. i t
