Johnny Lee Celebrates 45th Anniversary Of His Top 5 Single This Time

Written by Chips Moman, Lee released this as his fifth single from his album, ‘H-e-e-ere’s Johnny!’ Johnny Lee recently announced his ‘Hey Bartender, Last Call: The Farewell Tour.’ Throughout his career, Lee has achieved 26 Top 20 singles and became an integral part of the ‘Urban Cowboy’ movement that took the world by storm in the early 80s.

Johnny Lee Talks New Album + the Lasting Legacy of Urban Cowboy

Everything s Gonna Be Alright, Johnny Lee s first collection of new recordings since 2016, serves as more than a trip back to the crossover-friendly country music made prominent in the early 80s by the John Travolta movie  Urban Cowboy. The Feb. 12 release also reminds us that well-written songs about dim lights, thick smoke, loud music, hope and family always connect with country fans, with or without mainstream buzz. Though it was written before social distancing became part of the vernacular, the title track connects as if it s specifically about our current situation. I started writing that song a couple of years ago, before I knew everything was going to go crazy, Lee says. I met Tony Ramey. We were playing a job in Fort Worth somewhere, and he came to my bus. I said, Tony, what do you think of this? He loved it, so he made up a couple of verses on the spot.

Johnny Lee Reminds Us All That Everything s Gonna Be Alright

Many a country song has been written and released in recent years that essentially serve up much-needed reminders that a new and better day is coming. From Kacey Musgraves“Rainbow” to Maren Morris“Girl” to Thomas Rhett’s “Be a Light,” songs have a way of boosting us emotionally just when we need it the most. And now, country legend Johnny Lee has given us another song to add to this worthy mix. Premiering exclusively via Taste of Country on Friday (Jan. 8), “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright” could easily be seen as 2021 s first lullaby for a hurting nation. As the country continues to deal with a time of political turmoil along with an ongoing pandemic, Lee’s sweet song reminds us all of a number of universal truths, including the promise that a brand-new day brings a brand-new light.
