Gov. Ugwuanyi gets nod from federal agencies to construct iconic roundabout, tower

Determined by his vision to include Nsukka in the world map of history with a landmark edifice, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, on Tuesday, inspected the site for the construction of an iconic roundabout and tower, located at the popular Opi Junction, about 12km from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) Campus.
Gov. Ugwuanyi who was accompanied by his Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Greg Nnaji, the Controller of Works, Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Engr. Femi Oyekanmi and the Airspace, Manager, Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, Iliya Yohana, disclosed that the major purpose of the inspection tour was to obtain approval from the two federal agencies for the commencement of the all-important project. ....

Enugu governor names 'one of his greatest achievements'

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has disclosed that the stepping down of 30MVA in Nsukka from the 132KV Makurdi Feeder, which his administration facilitated, to improve the quality of electricity supply in the area, is one of the state government’s greatest achievements.
The 30MVA Injection Sub-Station in Nsukka was the programme of the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) but received maximum support from Mr Ugwuanyi’s administration which provided sundry assistance such as resolution of all legal issues concerning the project, bush clearing as well as dealing with other obstructions impeding the line’s passage, and construction of the outgoing feeders to supply power to end users. ....

EEDC to commence free distribution of prepaid meters in Nsukka District 2021

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, weekend, revealed plans to commence distribution of free prepaid meters to electricity consumers at Nsukka District, in the first quarter of 2021.
The EEDC Network Manager of Nsukka district, Abuchi Mekowulu, disclosed this in Nsukka while addressing irate protesters who stormed their office at Enugu Road over unjustified high electricity tariff.
Mekowulu said that EEDC in collaboration with Federal Government would make it possible for all customers to get prepaid meters in 2021starting from first quarter of the year.
“EEDC is optimistic that before the end of 2021, all customers will get prepaid meters free of charge. With prepaid meter, the complaint of high monthly estimated bills will be over,” he said. ....
