Minor crimes can now be reported online in Swift Current

RCMP in Swift Current have implemented online reporting for some minor crimes that take place in the area.
Some of the things that can be reported online include theft or damage to property under five thousand dollars, as well as lost or found property. Emergencies or anything that can result in identity theft should still be reported in person or by calling 9-1-1.
Corporal Rob King says the RCMP wants to make this system easy to use.
“We also don’t want to tie up emergency services such as 911, or anyone that might be dispatching, or having to attend a crime,” said King. “These are types of incidents where you can go and attend to it at a later time when there are other emergent issues.” ....

La Ronge woman alleging serious assault at the hands of RCMP officers after dispute at local hospital
A First Nations woman is alleging RCMP officers used excessive force and she suffered a concussion as a result after a dispute at the La Ronge Health Centre last month.
Lac La Ronge Indian Band member Emily Kammermayer said she took her two-year-old son into the hospital on Dec. 29 after he injured his arm.
Based on the injury, she said she was convinced her son needed an x-ray but the attending doctor refused to authorize one and an argument ensued.
RCMP were then called to the scene and Kammermayer said she was seriously assaulted a number of times by three officers. ....
