We know shermans own view of president ial politics. Can you shed some light on that and how it affected grant at all, or what counsel sherman may have given him . Thats a good question. Sherman was completely i shouldnt say a political. He was antipolitical. He hated the whole game of politics and didnt want to get involved. I think he may have thought to grant, you know, youre unsuited for this. This is really not what you were cut out to do. Senator john sherman was a politician, aspirate for the presidency.
