Sheriff-elect Kevin Glendening said jail numbers this week are 77, with seven out-of-county and three out-of-state inmates waiting for space at a halfway house and the Iowa Medical and Classification Center at Oakdale in Johnson County.
The main role of the IMCC is to serve as a reception and classification center for adults bound for prison.
Pierce County commissioners elect 2021 officers

Pierce County commissioners elected David Migler and Ashley Berg as chair and vice-chair for the 2021 term in their regular meeting held Dec. 1.
Migler, who serves as the current board chair, represents Pierce County District 5, while Berg represents Pierce County District 3. The board approved both with a unanimous vote.
The commissioners heard from Heart of America Correctional and Treatment Center Administrator Mike Graner, who presented financial and other information from the jail.
Graner told the commissioners the facility saw a $104,189.10 deficit for the month of October. The inmate population for November ranged between 75 and 91 inmates, he noted. The jail booked 12 inmates in November, and 11 remained in custody during the month.
