Burn ban, roads and campsites top county’s May agenda By Staff | May 15, 2021 Pierce County Commissioners voted to approve new road work, campsite additions and an extended burn ban at their regular meeting held May 4 at the Pierce County Courthouse. The ban, brought before the board by Department of Emergency Services Coordinator Kelsey Siegler, extends from May 4 to Oct. 31. The ban applies to “recreational burning, garbage/pit burning, burning of farmland, cropland and/or ditches, and the use of fire to demolish structures” when the county is under a Red Flag Warning. The ban also takes effect when the North Dakota Fire Danger Index places the county in the Very High or Extreme categories. The use of fireworks is also banned under these conditions.

Pierce County commissioners elect 2021 officers By Sue Sitter - | Dec 12, 2020 Pierce County commissioners elected David Migler and Ashley Berg as chair and vice-chair for the 2021 term in their regular meeting held Dec. 1. Migler, who serves as the current board chair, represents Pierce County District 5, while Berg represents Pierce County District 3. The board approved both with a unanimous vote. The commissioners heard from Heart of America Correctional and Treatment Center Administrator Mike Graner, who presented financial and other information from the jail. Graner told the commissioners the facility saw a $104,189.10 deficit for the month of October. The inmate population for November ranged between 75 and 91 inmates, he noted. The jail booked 12 inmates in November, and 11 remained in custody during the month.
