An attempt by the Coalition for Unity, Respect and Equality for All (CUREA) to block Glen Grant from succeeding Sen. Bernadette Clement as mayor fell flat on its face, as it should have.
Grant, the group charged, is a poor example of leadership when it comes to the diversity file; he was painted as a poor fit to fill the mayoral vacancy left by Clement’s departure. Based on some weak arguments, he scored a D-minus on the organization’s diversity scorecard.

The number of reported crimes with a sexual nature in Cornwall increased in 2020 compared to the year before, according to a report.
At the board meeting on May 6, the Cornwall Police Service presented its annual crime statistics, which showed some crimes, including property-related crimes, had decreased.

The number of total crimes in 2020 decreased three per cent from 4,479 in 2019, to 4,343. This was due to a sharp decrease of 13.2 per cent in property crimes, which were down from 1,854 to 1,610. All other adult crimes increased in 2020.
