In a year that has been catastrophic for the restaurant industry, it was easy to miss the annual Michelin star awards last night. An event that is usually celebratory was a quiet online affair, tinged with sadness at the thought not of those restaurants that have lost out on a coveted award, but have been lost forever because of the pandemic and subsequent shutdowns. However, there were small sparks of joy to pick up from the Michelin guide s accolades, most notably a new green star.
No less than 23 restaurants were awarded a green star, for their work in implementing sustainable practices and better supply chains into their processes.
