Nashville, TN - Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) responded to the 5th boating fatality of the year at Percy Priest Lake, Sunday, June 4th, 2023.
MURFREESBORO, TENN – The 5th person to drown in Percy Priest Lake this year has been identified as 32-year-old Jorge Guevara Ventura of the Nashville area. He died this past Sunday.
TWRA reports Ventura went underwater and never resurfaced while in the Cook Recreation Area of the lake on the Hermitage, Tennessee side of the waterway. He and a friend were boating when their vessel had engine trouble. Reports indicate Ventura was attempting to swim the boat to shore with a rope.
