Home sales taking longer amid caution, CHC says

Continental Holdings Corp (CHC, 欣陸投控) yesterday said property sales now take longer as buyers have turned cautious amid monetary tightening and economic uncertainty.
The conglomerate made the comment after reporting record-high net profit of NT$2.18 billion (US$72.69 million) for the first half of this year, up 171 percent from the same period last year.
The results translated into earnings per share of NT$2.65, also a new high for the same period, CHC said.
Consolidated revenue totaled NT$18.26 billion in the first six months, up from NT$11.94 billion a year earlier, while gross margin improved by 3.53 percentage points to 18.18 percent, it said.

Outlook at major real-estate developers remains bullish despite market risks

Taiwan’s major developers remain positive about their business prospects this year, even though an ongoing COVID-19 outbreak and unfavorable policy measures are dampening buying interest.
Continental Development Corp (CDC, 大陸建設), the property development arm of Continental Holdings Corp (欣陸投控), on Wednesday said that it is planning to go ahead with development projects and land hunting, as it is seeking to support earnings in the next few years.
“The ongoing virus outbreak will be another temporary damper on the housing market,” CDC chief executive officer Liao Tsung-sen (廖淳森) told a news conference in Taipei.

Continental Holdings looks to offload four properties

Continental Holdings Corp (CHC, 欣陸投控) yesterday said it would consider selling its stakes in four hotels in Taiwan and abroad, but would not accept low-ball offers when offloading investments.
The Taipei-based conglomerate owns the site of the newly launched Humble Boutique Hotel (寒居酒店) in Taipei’s Zhongshan District (中山) and 55 percent stakes in both the Capri by Fraser2 in Kuala Lumpur and the upcoming Line Hotel in San Francisco. It also controls a 35 percent stake in Hotel Nikko Kaohsiung, which is to open next year.

CHC optimistic on ample contracts and projects

Continental Holdings Corp (CHC, 欣陸投控) yesterday said it is looking at further business improvement this year, thanks to ample contracts and projects on hand, after achieving double-digit percentage growth in profit and revenue last year.
Consolidated revenue last year expanded 23.8 percent year-on-year to NT$26.84 billion (US$937.64 million), while net profit picked up 18.7 percent to NT$1.8 billion, with contributions from all three business segments: Continental Engineering Corp (大陸工程), Continental Development Corp (CDC, 大陸建設) and HDEC Corp (欣達環工), it said.
