INTRODUCTION
The first time I heard of contempt of court was 2013 during the hearing of the Election Petition where some political parties’ activists and an editor were cited for contempt for bastardizing the courts. In fact, the 2013 election petition, aside it being history, was very educative hearing. Same happened in the case of Abu Ramadan, Evans Nimako vs. Electoral Commission of Ghana where three radio panelists on a Montie FM political show found themselves on the wrong side of the law over comments the Supreme Court deemed contemptuous. ....

Psy. robert, always good to see you. what are the i guess walk through the likelihood that we re going to hear from either kupperman or bolton or mulvaney given given this hearing. boy, it s hard to know what to expect. i do think it s interesting. i mean, pete did a very nice job of laying out why the bolton/kupperman camp thinks that the interests of their side do not line up with mulvaney s legal interests. but i think that there s also something else at stake, which is that each camp is also trying to protect their individual reputations. mulvaney is obviously someone who could just do nothing, as pete points out. and the house is unlikely to invoke its own inherent contempt power. it doesn t think that there s enough time to go to the courts to do anything else really. they are trying to consider ....

Prisballa s reporting about the way that they re focusing this. it is like building a case. it is like putting something together for a trial. except your jury is the american people. abuse of power is the easiest avenue to achieve impeachment. it is not a crime but crimes are not necessarily all impeachable and the converse is that not all impeachable offenses must be crimes. so we have abuse of power and we do have precedent in the case of richard nixon but we also have precedent in the form of no less than three federal judges who have been impeached for abuse of contempt power and then just straight-up abuse of power. so there is precedent for the abuse of power as an impeachable offense and arguably because it is not itself a crime that exists in the crime code, it is an easier case to make. however, if that is the easier case to make, then that s something that can be made now. it could be made later in their view. now, they re thinking about the more difficult cases to make, s ....
