By S.T. Patrick There is a disconnect within the Department of Justice about the motivations of the Jan. 6 Capitol protestors. One U.S. attorney has been arguing in court that the “QAnon Shaman” Jacob Chansley (aka Bull Horn Guy) case includes “strong evidence, including Chansley’s own words and actions at the Capitol, [to support the claim that] the intent of the Capitol rioters was to capture and assassinate elected officials.” Another assistant U.S. attorney is arguing that retired Lt. Col. Larry Brock, who was carrying zip-tie restraints, “means to take hostages he means to kidnap, restrain, perhaps try, perhaps execute members of the U.S. government.” This goes directly against the most recent statement of the nation’s top prosecutor in D.C., U.S. Attorney Michael Sherwin, whose jurisdiction the Capitol protest falls within, that “there is no direct evidence at this point in time of kill-capture teams or assassination.” ....
By Patrick Buchanan Donald Trump has stumbled and fallen, and the establishment is not going to let slip this last opportunity to stomp him and his movement to death. A month ago, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued a startling ultimatum: Either Vice President Mike Pence and the Trump Cabinet invoke the 25th Amendment, declare the president “unfit” for office, and remove him within 24 hours, or House Democrats will vote to impeach him again. Such is the blind hatred of Pelosi’s House for Donald Trump. Rep. James Clyburn of South Carolina suggested holding off sending a bill of impeachment to the Senate for 100 days to give Biden a chance to get his appointees confirmed, and then indict and convict Mr. Trump of sedition when he is a private citizen. What would be the purpose of impeaching a president who hasn’t been president for three months? Answer: A conviction would strip Republicans of the right to reelect the man who got the largest number of votes in their part ....
By Richard Walker It may have come late in his presidency, but President Donald Trump appears determined to end this term in office by following through on his promise to pull as many troops out of Afghanistan and Iraq as possible. He is making the move against opposition from generals and leading figures in Congress, including the likes of Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. If this decision is to be a swansong of a kind at the end of this presidency, it will speak directly to promises he made to his voters and to the nation to finally bring our troops home from the two major conflict zones that have cost America much in blood and treasure, and led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of civilians in those two countries. He has never deviated from his stated aim to draw down troop strengths, leading to eventual withdrawal, and it now appears the draw-down has been successful. It should allow him to achieve his objective early in the new year. He had planned a withdrawal by ....
