A man from Oldham has been jailed after he groomed and exploited a teenage girl online.
Thomas Johnstone (aged 23), of Walter Mills Way in Oldham, was sentenced yesterday (Tuesday) at Manchester Crown Court after pleading guilty to meeting a child following sexual grooming with the intention of engaging in penetrative sexual activity and causing and inciting a child to engage in non-penetrative sexual activity.
He was sentenced to 28 months imprisonment and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order has been imposed.
He will also be required to sign the Sex Offender’s Register for a period of 10 years.
In March 2020, Johnstone began communicating with his victim online and these conversations were sexual from the very beginning.

A man who groomed a young school girl before exploiting her trust for his own sexual desires has been jailed.
Thomas Johnstone, 23, of Walter Mills Way, Oldham, first began talking to his young victim online in March 2020, Manchester Crown Court heard.
The conversations were sexual in nature from the very beginning.
Johnstone continued to pursue a relationship with the girl - who was in her early teens - and arranged to meet her on multiple occasions.
