A new leader has been appointed at Isle of Wight Council after no single party won enough seats to take overall control.
Independent Lora Peacey-Wilcox replaces Conservative Dave Stewart, who lost his seat in the local elections on 6 May.
An alliance of various groups was formed after the Tories won 18 seats and 21 seats were won by other parties.
Mrs Peacey-Wilcox said she was shocked to have been appointed and would do her utmost in the role.

Former Isle of Wight Council Leader and Our Island leader Jonathan Bacon is back in County Hall.
Former Isle of Wight Council Leader Jonathan Bacon is back in County Hall, after winning Brading and St Helens.
Despite opposition from Labour’s Alexander Buggie, Liberal Democrat John Graney and the incumbent Conservative Brian Tyndall, he has secured a seat for Our Island.
Yesterday, voters cast their ballots in town and parish councils and for the Police and Crime Commissioner and the results of those will be known on Saturday and Monday, respectively.
Overall for the Isle of Wight Council election, turnout was slightly down on 2017, at just over 36 per cent. ....
