The Pennsylvania and Delaware chapter of The Nature Conservancy has closed on a land deal to expand its existing Cove Mountain Preserve in Perry County, creating a 14-mile stretch of protected land along Blue Mountain, which also is known as the Kittatinny Ridge.
The purchase expands the preserve from 353 to 1,411 acres and connects it to Pennsylvania Game Commission state game lands.
An additional 213 acres will be transferred to the commission in the near future, according to the conservancy.
