maybe you go around it backwards. raise deficits as an excuse to cut social programs. the fact is i m not sure people care all that much about deficits be a great discussion to have because when deficits give you a good return on your investment, james, would you agree they can be useful? in a low interest environment, you go into deficit financing because you are rebuilding fantastic infrastructure and you re getting higher taxes it s what you re spending it s what you re spending the money on i think people and politicians will care when markets care. right now markets don t care either i don t want to get people to care about this. good to see you. james of the american enterprise institute. all right when we come back, former trump advisor for quite sometime, he s been with the president for years, roger stone, he just keeps talking. unbelievable. one day before his arraignment. and his answer today to whether he would cut a deal with robert mueller, it wasn t exactly
subtle but important shift for roger stone. he is the 6 th person close to the president to be charged in the russia investigation stone was a long-time trump advisor, working for the campaign in its early days, and advocating for the candidate up to election day. stone is another link to russia, communicating, according to the indictment with wikileaks, about the release of e-mails stolen from democrats by russian intelligence and as stone reasserts his loyalty to thepresident, he tells nbc news he has not spoken to the president about a pardon and the president s lawyer, rudy giuliani, says there s been no discussion of a pardon here s a refresher on the other people involved. the special counsel secured a conviction against former campaign chairman paul manafort on eight counts. he pleaded guilty and admit today 12 other charges including bank fraud a man characterized as manafort s protege, rick gates, who also served in the campaign, admitted to committing crimes with manafort.
that s not an option i m sorry. you want to take money, take your own trump confidant, roger stone in a d.c. federal court room tomorrow are you willing to deal with going to trial i don t answer hypothetical questions. i have no intention of doing so, however. after he s fired, michael flynn, they thought that would end the russia investigation inglis en, flynn is the only guy who spoke to the russians apparently i think this is going to end it. i stand before you today to announce my candidacy for president of the united states [ cheers and applause i am seriously thinking of running for president. i will run as a centrist independent, outside of the two-party system both parties are consistently not doing what s necessary on behalf of the american people. i think me and ali are the only people not running for president. $11 billion. it s true. that is how much president trump s shutdown cost the american economy that is according to the
prerogative. but i don t see a wall having votes in either the house or the senate congressman roger, good to talk to you as always. thank you for johniining us thank you so much you said sarah sanders continuously says these people, there was one odd person there, one odd person here. paul manafort was the campaign chair. while he was the campaign chair, that is what put the president over the top at the republican national convention to secure the nomination and the president and rudy giuliani, while paul manafort sits in jail, have not turned on him. they have not said, this guy was off on his own he was rogue they turn on everybody all the time they haven t said word one turning on him and we know he s a bad egg. president trump s claims that there was rampant voter fraud in texas and all over the country, that s not quite what s going on we re going to talk to an expert from the center for justice who studies voter fraud and get the story. you re watching velshi & ruh
stephanie s phone away from her soon so good coming up next, we are going to have this discussion, hopefully without the horn with a member of the house intelligence committee about what roger stone s indictment and repeated statements on live tv could mean for the russia investigation. you re watching velshi & ruhle live on msnbc. don t blow the hornment. that s why i switched to liberty mutual. they customized my insurance, so i only pay for what i need. i insured my car, and my bike. my calves are custom too, but i can t insure those. which is a crying shame. only pay for what you need. liberty. liberty. liberty. liberty. make ice.d be mad at tech that s unnecessarily complicated. but you re not, because you have e trade, which isn t complicated. their tools make trading quicker and simpler so you can take on the markets with confidence.
