I want to thank quail ridge books for inviting me back and all you people coming out to hear about general Phil Sheridan, who, of the leaders at the war, he i the least know, the others being uhis see s. This is appropriate because, by the time the civil war ended, sheridan was sometimes referred as to the left hand of grant. He was ten years younger than grant and sherman. He was a dynamo. Inspired his men with his intensity and by his personal leadership. He led from the front but he was also a careful planner. Yet he was the one who promptly acted on a plan, and once it was made, and was willing to change it if the conditions changed on the battlefield.
