OUR CORRESPONDENT TANGLA: Horse-trading in Assam Poll 2021: In a bid to thwart any possibility of horse-trading, the BPF (Bodoland People s Front) has kept a section of its candidates in an undisclosed hotel outside the State. According to sources, as many as 10 BPF candidates contesting the polls in the four districts of BTR (Bodoland Territorial Region) have been sent outside the state. The candidates are accompanied by BTC executive members. Only Minister Pramila Rani Brahma, a six-time MLA from the Kokrajhar East constituency, and Rabiram Narzary are in Kokrajhar now. BPF president Hagrama Mohilary took the decision to shift party candidates to another State after a meeting with its candidates in Kokrajhar, amid fears of horse-trading by the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) before the announcement of results of the Assam Assembly elections on May 2, 2021. ....
STAFF REPORTER GUWAHATI: Neither the BJP-led Mitrajoot, nor the Congress-led Mahajoot is a happy-go-lucky political formation in this Assembly poll in the State. Though both the political formations claiming to win 100+…, yet the situation on the ground is something different. The results of the 2016 Assembly poll in the State throw much light on the electoral battle in the present realigned political alliances in the State. In 2016, the BJP-led alliance had AGP, BPF and a few smaller regional parties with it. On the contrary, the Congress and the AIUDF did fight that poll separately. In some LACs, the Congress, AIUDF and the BJP-AGP alliance were logged in triangular fight. In most of such contests, the BJP-AGP alliance reaped the benefits. ....

Leaders of the Congress, AIUDF, Anchalik Gana Mancha, CPI, CPI-M, CMI-ML, Jimochayan (Deori) People s Party and the Rashtriya Janata Dal were present at a joint press meet in Guwahati on Sunday. Addressing the media, AICC s Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) in-charge Jitendra Singh said, We ve done well in the first and second phases of the poll. We re going to do well in the third phase as well. ....
