(Photo: Microsoft) Microsoft is attempting to make Xbox a more accessible platform, and the latest improvements in that arena are heading to Xbox Party Chat. As Xbox Wire reports, the Xbox Party Chat system available to Xbox Insiders now includes options for transcribing speech to text and for synthesis of speech from text. It means that you have the choice of reading all interactions in text form as an adjustable overlay on top of games, or alternatively, having any text messages automatically converted to synthetic speech and spoken while you play wearing your favorite gaming headset. As Scott Hannus, Senior Program Manager at Xbox explains, Either one of these features (or both working together) can be used to help gamers who are deaf or hard of hearing and/or cannot or choose not to speak to participate in Xbox Party Chat without special accommodation from others in the party.
