A 500-level student of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Mansur Garba and some yet-to-be-identified people were abducted on Wednesday by gunmen suspected to be terrorists in Zamfara, northwest Nigeria. SaharaReporters learned that the abduction happened on the highway leading to Gusau, Zamfara State capital when the terrorists stopped a car carrying no fewer than six passengers, including Mansur Garba. The vehicle was going from Sokoto to Gusua. The gunmen kidnapped the passengers and took them to an unknown location.
Seven abducted students of the Federal University of Lafia, Nasarawa State were rescued from the terrorists’ den by Nigerian security operatives on Sunday evening. A source in the school confirmed this to SaharaReporters on Monday morning, revealing that the students had been handed over to the school management and admitted to the school clinic for proper treatment. The rescued victims comprised four male and three female undergraduate students of the university.

Some operatives of the Nigerian Police Force on Thursday afternoon attacked students of the Federal University of Lafia, Nasarawa State while they were protesting against the massive abduction of their mates by a group of terrorists, locally dubbed as bandits. SaharaReporters gathered that the terrorists invaded a private hostel of the students, named Confidence Lodge at Gandu community and kidnapped some students living in the lodge.
