An “unforeseen loss of business” led to the decision to cut its entire San Antonio workforce, said Tina Hawk, Conduit’s vice president of human resources. The company described its situation in an April 26 letter to the Texas Workforce Commission. Under state law, employers must give 60 days’ notice of mass layoffs. “The closure and the layoffs are expected to be permanent,” Conduit CEO Robert Bryan said in the letter to the TWC. ....
MCLEANSVILLE – Telecommunications service provider Conduit Global has filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) notice with the North Carolina Department of Commerce saying company could conduct permanent layoffs of up to 173 of its employees in the Greensboro area within the next 60 days. Tina Hawk, a spokesperson for the company told WRAL TechWire by email that the decision was “due to the unforeseen loss of business.” According to the notice filed with the Department of Commerce, the company is in the process of “attempting to ensure the continuation of certain business activities,” which if it is unsuccessful would mean “it will become necessary to close down all or substantially all of the Company’s business activities in its 5420 Millstream Road, McLeansville, North Carolina, 27301 location and permanently lay off all or substantially all of its employees at that location.” ....
