Cicero woman who exploited immigrants gets 6 1/2 years in prison: feds RADIO.COM 2 hrs ago ( WBBM NEWSRADIO) A Cicero woman accused of trafficking undocumented immigrants from Guatemala and packing them in a squalid basement has been sentenced to 6 1/2 years in federal prison. Concepcion Malinek took thousands of dollars from Guatemalan immigrants and promised them a new life in America but instead forced them to work off a debt she said they owed her, prosecutors said. During that time, the immigrants were crammed into her Cicero basement, which was teeming with roaches and lice. The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Chicago said Malinek threatened the immigrants with deportation and separation from their children if they didn’t do the work she demanded. ....
