26/05/2021 The 2021 President’s Awards for Research and Impact were presented to recipients from across the university who have been involved in ground-breaking research in areas including school bullying, climate change, children’s play, natural language processing, trust in the workplace and Brexit. The Awards for Research are presented for outstanding achievement and research excellence over an extended period, while the Awards for Impact are presented in recognition of research work, often a single project, that has had a significant impact on society. This year’s recipients of the President’s awards for Research are as follows: Early Career Researcher Category: Dr Lisa van der Werff, DCU Business School, for her work on ‘Building Positive Workplace Relationships: Trust Development in our Relationships with Coworkers, Organisations and Technology’. HP Middle East, Turkey, and East Africa has appointed Vishnu Taimni as the new managing director for the region effective February 1, 2021. In his new role, Taimni will be responsible for managing and growing HP’s Personal Systems, Printing, Industrial Graphics and 3D printing businesses in the Middle East, Turkey and East Africa. He will also overlook the educational activities by HP in the region. He replaces Mathew Thomas, who has made the personal decision to leave the company to focus on personal and professional pursuits. Commenting on his appointment, Taimni said: ‘Over the last year technology has proven to be essential, keeping people productive and allowing us to continue working, learning, entertaining and communicating. I’m excited to lead HP business in the region of huge potential.’ ....
