On January 8, 2021 the Foreign Minister of Japan, Toshimitsu Motegi, made an official visit to Brasilia, consolidating the excellent moment in bilateral relations and giving renewed dynamism to the Brazil-Japan Strategic and Global Partnership.
Both
countries share values and principles, such as the respect for fundamental freedoms, the peaceful settlement of disputes and the observance of international law, as well as the commitment to democracy, free trade and the market economy. Brazil is home to the largest population of Japanese origin outside Japan – over 2 million people – and in Japan resides the 3rd largest community of Brazilians abroad – over 210 thousand nationals.
