The firefighters couldnt fight the fire from inside the building so they sprayed water from the outside to keep it from spreading. We are hearing that the son was cooking at 2 a. M. When this fire broke out. And that neighbors tell us that the elderly man sent his son out of the house to get help. That son is 40 years old. They are calling him joey and they say he is mentally challenged. At this point they are waiting for the structure to cool down a little bit before they enter the building. Its unsafe. With the sun coming up investigators will try to figure out who is still inside the building if they are. Heres the battalion chief. We dont know if they are on vacation at a friends house, uhm, but thats under investigation right now. Reporter so the sun is coming up here. Investigators are on scene trying to interview witnesses. The park is on borerying a gas avenue near garner drive. The fire started around 2 00 this morning. Firefighters contained the flames to the one structure. One person was unhurt.
