Generous councillors in Honiton have handed out more than £40,000 to support local groups hit hard by the Covid-19 crisis – and there is still time for more community organisations to apply for cash help.
The town council has agreed to issue 14 grants totalling £28,800 and give £15,000 to Honiton Gymnastics Club – spending more than it had originally budgeted to do because of the hardship caused by the pandemic.

The council said: “Several local community organisations have found 2020-21 particularly financially challenging because of the impact of Covid-19. ....

Community group aims to make Honiton food hunger free

A community group in Honiton has launched with the aim of making the town and its surrounding area food waste and hunger free.
Honiton Foodsave, set up and launched in late November by Jake Bonetta, works in partnership with businesses and the Honiton community to collect and sort food, ready for distribution to other community organisations and individuals on a no-questions-asked basis.
All items given away by Honiton Foodsave are free and available to everyone in the community, and no referral or invitation is needed. ....
